ACTIVITIES

The Warrnambool Family History Group Inc. runs a number of activities during the year that are open to both members and non-members to attend upon payment of a small entry fee.

ANNUAL ACTIVITIES

The major annual activities of the Group are:-

An annual family history seminar, normally held in May.
An open day.
A series of cemetery walks at Warrnambool cemetery (subject to availability of volunteers and public interest).
The Group also enjoys an annual Christmas Dinner & get together in early December each year.
A regular event now is the June General Meeting which is normally in a dinner format.

MONTHLY ACTIVITIES

On a monthly basis (February to November) the Group conducts the following activities:

  • Publication of our Newsletter The South-West Genealogist which includes information on the Group's activities and also contains a summary transcription from The Warrnambool Standard covering the contents for the corresponding month, 108 years in the past. A full year subscription to the Newsletter (10 issues) costs $15.00, including postage where applicable. The February issue covers both January and February Historicals and the November issue covers November and December Historicals.
  • A monthly meeting at HeritageWorks, Gilles Street, Warrnambool on the second Wednesday of the month commencing at 7.30pm.  A usual feature of these meetings is the inclusion of a Guest Speaker who will talk about specific topics of interest to the Group.
  • A monthly workshop night, also at HeritageWorks, on the fourth Monday of the month commencing at 2.30pm.  
  • Family Tree Maker self-help interest group on the third Wednesday of the month commencing 3.30pm at HeritageWorks.

    No fees are payable to attend these monthly activities.

PIONEERS' REGISTER 1834-1900

The Group has now published a Pioneers Register of all pioneers who lived in the City of Warrnambool and the Old Warrnambool Shire.  

Submissions have now closed. However, as is inevitable, errors and omissions will be found as the Register reaches a larger readership.  Such errata can be communicated to the group, either by writing or via the e-mail link provided.
